Initally, you have some decisions to make. One major decision involves whether you should use fabric or paper for the interior of the wallet. Using fabric will give you a more durable interior and there are literally thousands of different color choices available. However, negative aspects of using fabric are:

The advantages of using paper are that it is easier to fold and there are different textures available. [I once made an Egyptian-themed wallet and found some papyrus-like paper for the interior--how cool!] Disadvantages of using paper include a perhaps less durable interior (although I have used wallets with paper interiors for months without any trouble) and decorative paper can be expensive.
